Microsoft Corporation has just announced the release date of Windows 10, a unifying operating system that will replace the unpopular Windows 8 with new features.
"Windows
10 represents the first step of a whole new generation of Windows. Windows 10
unlocks new experiences for customers to work, play and connect. Windows 10
embodies what our customers (both consumers and enterprises) demand and what we
will deliver," Terry Myerson wrote
in the official press release.
Myerson
added, "Windows 10
will run across an incredibly broad set of devices – from the Internet of
Things, to servers in enterprise datacenters worldwide. Some of these devices
have 4 inch screens – some have 80 inch screens – and some don't have screens
at all. Some of these devices you hold in your hand, others are ten feet away.
Some of these devices you primarily use touch/pen, others mouse/keyboard,
others controller/gesture – and some devices can switch between input
types."
Microsoft
has not yet revealed the complete lineup of new Windows 10 features.
The
ones that are unwrapped include the return of the "Start Menu" with a
customizable space for apps and "Live Tiles."
Apps
purchased from Windows Store will now be opened in the same manner that desktop
apps do.

Windows 10 also adds snap
enhancements that allows four apps snapped in a quadrant layout, and introduces
new task view button located at the task bar for quick switching between
currently running files or programs.
The
new operating system will enable users to create multiple desktops for
different projects, and switch easily from one to another.
The
File Explorer will also make it easier for a user to find files by displaying
recently opened and frequently visited folders.
The
"best Windows yet" trailer gives a
comprehensive rundown of the new capabilities enclosed in Windows 10.
During
the development of the latest operating system, Microsoft also took into great
consideration the need to support businesses.
The Windows 10 for
Business is specifically fashioned in order to cater to demands
of business processes.
"Windows
10 will be our greatest platform ever for organizations and their employees.
There are several reasons that business customers in particular should take
notice of Windows 10," wrote Jim Alkove, Windows enterprise program management team
lead.
The
business edition also features bolstered security arsenals and improved
resistance to breach, phishing and data theft.
